BUILD is our commitment to delivering a year-round programme of artist development workshops, talks and social activities. It is our invitation to performers, writers, directors, theatre makers and anyone working professionally in theatre to learn and share the experience of making work as a community.

BUILD is for people with 2 years + professional experience in their chosen specialism; this can include recent graduates.

The BUILD programme is comprised of:

  • Workshops, residencies and talks from an incredible array of established practitioners including directors, writers, casting directors, producers, movement specialists and many more – with a mix of artists who are local to Scotland and from across the UK.

  • Social events and idea-sparking sessions, aimed at creating a supportive network of friends and potential collaborators.

  • One-to-one advice sessions with our team and with external experts in the field.

  • Ticket offers and chances to come and see shows with other artists.

Please watch our intro video below to learn more about what BUILD has to offer.

Making Space

Making Space is Tron Theatre’s offer of in-kind space to artists who need it. You might be looking for a room to rehearse in, some R&D time or just space for brainstorming. Whenever we have room available, it’s yours to use free of charge. Making Space takes place either in the Vic or the Changing House, with the rooms available from 10.30am – 5.30pm.

The Making Space offers comes with no tech support and cannot include any public output (i.e. a sharing). Otherwise, it’s yours to use as you please. Making Space is offered on a first come, first served basis and we ask that artists request no more than three days at a time.

Please have a read through our Making Space info sheet to learn more about the set up. To request space, please fill out this short online form.

For more information on Making Space, click here: Making Space Information.

The Tron will provide free WiFi, power, pens and paper. Our café bar Set! will offer free tea and filter coffee as well as 10% off their menu.

To book a space, please fill out this short online form.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

BUILD Accessibility

We have a blended programme with events happening in person and online. As everyone’s circumstances are different, we’re aiming to make our programme of work more accessible. Some events are free, others are eligible for Pay What You Choose via our three-tiered pricing system. Please select whichever tier best suits your financial circumstances.

With the current cost of living crisis, we are more aware than ever of the need to ensure that BUILD remains accessible. With that in mind, we are offering a few free places for BUILD events. To request a free place, you simply need to complete a short online form. Please note that while we will try to accommodate as many requests as possible, these places are limited.

We’re always keen to meet new artists, so if you’d like to learn more about what we do or would like a chat with one of our team, feel free to email creative@tron.co.uk.
