Work For Adults

While our theatre programme provides the opportunity to participate as an audience member, Tron Participation provides opportunities to engage as an artist.

Sometimes taking part in a workshop may be the first step to accessing the theatre programme.  But for those with previous involvement it allows them to continue their relationship with the Tron from childhood to adulthood.

Through our workshop programme participants can

  • develop artistic skills through adult drama and creative writing workshops
  • tap into previously unrecognised talents
  • acquire skills and experiences that are useful in the labour market
  • develop social skills such as confidence, self expression and awareness which can raise self and or community esteem

Tron Studio

Tron Studio is our adult community drama company.  Participants meet regularly throughout the year for workshops and theatre performances.

The workshops allow participants to develop new and existing drama skills and techniques in tandem with developing key social skills.  Based in the Trongate, workshops attract attendance from across the city and beyond, breaking down geographical and social barriers.

Attending performances also allows participants to experience different theatrical styles, impacting on their practice and alongside the professional creative team the group have used the workshop time to present their own full scale production.

Tron Studio will spend the next year broadening their knowledge of theatre and approaches to making work through attending a minimum of 2 productions per season at the Tron and through working with visiting theatre professionals.  Tron Studio will then explore with these different approaches during April – June 2012 in what we are calling their Tron lab season with a view to creating a performance manifesto by June 2012 for the kind of approach the group will take when embarking on their next performance project 2012/13.

Commencing Autumn 2011 Tron Studio members will become the first participants to become official Tron Ambassadors.  Studio members will get special access to ticket deals and  will also be encouraged to share their experiences through social networking sites such as facebook.

Write Tron

Write Tron is our adult creative writing group.  The group meet for monthly sessions exploring a variety of genres with a strong focus on writing for stage.  The monthly sessions support writers at various stages whether developing new skills or honing existing ones.

Workshops encourage confidence in participant’s natural abilities and provide a platform to share work with others.   Participants learn about their own writing skills as they learn to critique both their own and others work. Attending performances at the Tron also informs their writing as they get to experience different styles and different writers.

Following on from the success of Page To Stage we are delighted to announce some changes to Write Tron.  From Autumn 2011, we will launch a new Write Tron Level 2 class.  This workshop is aimed at those who have had previous experience of writing for stage.  All Level 2 participants will be required to bring along a draft or excerpt of a play in development, and the workshops will focus on equipping writers with techniques, strategies and insights relating specifically to playwriting and the development of their work and skills.  The fee also includes tickets to 2 theatre performances as selected by Tron Participation.

For those who haven’t written before why not try out our Introduction to Creative Writing.   It’s an excellent precursor to our Write Tron Level 1 class which will begin again in April 2012.

Our Level 1 workshops are designed to help writers in all mediums maximize their creative potential and get the very best out of their writing process and products.  Write Tron Level 1 offers multi-leveled input to assist you, whatever stage you're at - whether you're experienced and looking for strategies to overcome obstacles, moving from working in one form or genre to another, or looking to explore writing for the first time. The fee also includes tickets to 2 theatre performances as selected by Tron Participation

Living Theatre Workshops

The idea is inspired by J.L. Moreno's original Theatre of Spontaneity and Impromtu Theatre in Austria during the 1920s and later his Open Psychodrama Sessions which he held alongside his wife Zerka in Carnegie Hall, New York in the 1940-1960s. During this time sessions were attended by, among others, Woody Allen who signed in to each event under a different name; Dustin Hoffman who created and developed his role of Enrico 'Ratso' Rizzo in Midnight Cowboy during his participation there; and Arthur Miller who incorporated the psychodramatic technique of the empty chair in his play 'The Price' after attending Moreno's evening sessions.

Living Theatre invites a public audience to engage with a live theatre event in which they are the creators of the action. Workshops have no rehearsed content, instead the starting point for a session will a theme, based on a play in the Tron season. The workshop aims to shatter the divide between stage and audience, allowing a platform to explore ideas, feelings and responses to the drama.

These workshops are not acting classes and no previous drama training is required. Workshop participants can choose to be actively involved, offer contributions from their seat or can be silent observers.

The Plume Living Theatre Workshop takes places on the 21st of March at 6pm.
