Performing a Monologue

with Katherine Nesbitt

This performance has taken place in the past

Join director Katherine Nesbitt to develop your monologue or solo performance skills. This workshop will focus on approaches to solo working, the role of the director in one-person plays and processes, and building a relationship between actor and director. The workshop will contain exercises to unlock ways of exploring monologues, as well as an opportunity for each actor to work on their monologue with feedback from the director. Participants should select an existing (published) monologue of 3-5 minutes in length of their choosing to explore during the workshop.

Katherine is an Associate Director for National Theatre Connections, an Associate Artist of the Traverse Theatre, a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors’ Lab, a Leverhulme Arts Scholar and JMK Trust Regional Director bursary recipient. She was a finalist for the JMK Award 2021 and the Sir Peter Hall Award 2021. Recent directing credits include Everyman by Carol Ann Duffy (Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and This is Paradise by Michael John O’Neill (Traverse Theatre).
