Our one-to-one sessions are a chance to have an online chat with people working in the industry who you might have burning questions for or might just have just always wanted a brew with. Each season we bring in experts from different specialisms to share their wisdom. These are advice sessions and a chance to pick the brains of arts professionals in a safe space. This month welcomes producers Margaret-Anne O’Donnell and Gillian Garrity (aka Raw Material).
Margaret-Anne and Gillian will be able to offer advice on producing, budgeting, touring and project management so whether you’re stuck with a particular project or with producing in general then do get in touch and book in a slot.
Margaret-Anne and Gillian are founders of Raw Material, a independent production company supporting independent artists and working in collaboration with many of Scotland’s key producers and venues. In its first two years, Raw Material performed to over 60,000 audience members, employing over 250 freelance artists and creatives, touring from the smallest studios to the largest commercial venues and many in between. In 2019 / 2020 the critically acclaimed sell-out production, What Girls Are Made Of, co-produced with the Traverse Theatre, toured extensively across Scotland, UK, Brazil, USA and Australia. Raw Material has supported many Scottish artists to make and tour work, including Ramesh Meyyappan, Gary McNair, Beth Morton & Cora Bissett. The company has collaborated and produced work in the UK and Internationally with Vanishing Point, Barrowland Ballet, Al Seed and Untitled Projects / Scottish Ensemble.
In summer 2021, Raw Material toured across Scotland with Unicorn Dance Party, for children and families, as well as supporting independent artist Janice Parker as part of a new Edinburgh International Festival commission.
