WORLD PREMIERE

Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me is a re-imagining of teenage years in the 1980s. David Paul Jones and Ben Harrison grew up on the west coast of Scotland and east of England respectively, falling in love with similar music.

David re-interprets classic 80s songs (including Smalltown Boy, Song To The Siren, Boys Don’t Cry and more), interwoven with Ben’s stories of that wonderful, troubled, exhilarating and oddly innocent decade.

The evening is an open-hearted, emotive, wry dive into the world of mix-tapes, Walkmans, fumbled early encounters, Carlsberg on the carpet, sleepovers and long nights hanging out at the bus stop with nothing to do but smoke and dream…

A sequel (or prequel) of sorts to Ben’s successful 2022 collaboration with Amy Duncan, Undertow Overflow. Directed by multi-award winning director and former 80s DJ Scott Johnston.

‘the atmosphere is one of almost liquid harmony and strength…a beautiful and intelligent hour of music theatre.’★★★ THE SCOTSMAN on Undertow Overflow

A green-tinged, old photograph of a teenage boy in a large black overcoat. He has a distinctly 80s look - with a mullet hairstyle, wire-framed glasses and is clasping his hands together in an angst-ridden fashion.
