Creating Sound and Music for Theatre

Join composer and sound designer Niroshini Thambar for a session on music and sound for theatre and other artistic projects. We’ll be looking at the role that music and sound can play in storytelling as well as some of the skills and processes, both individual and collaborative, involved in creating soundtracks.

Niroshini will speak about her own practice and route into theatre and also reflect on the range of experience and skills that can contribute to sustaining a freelance musical career. She will touch upon non-traditional routes into creating music and sound for productions, and offer a space for people to meet their peers and share practice and experiences around music and sound.

Niroshini is a musician, composer and sound designer. Initially performing live and in studio sessions on violin and keyboards, she then moved into composition and audio production. She also studied Environmental Sciences followed by an MSc in Human Ecology focusing on music/arts, identity and socio-ecological justice and this continues to influence her creative work.
