Choreography of Parenting

with The Work Room

Showing on Thu 23 Apr

a choreography of parenting with The Work Room

A morning of gentle sharing and connecting for artists & arts workers navigating parenting.

How do we shift between creative practice and caring responsibilities?

This is a morning for arts workers with caring responsibilities to connect with others with similar experiences, sharing the challenges, frustrations, and joys.  It will be a safe environment to talk about the struggles of balancing creative work with caring.

We will share learning from A Choreography of Parenting – a resource pack created by a group of independent artists through The Work Room. This project brought together a peer group to support each other in moving back into active artistic practice while navigating the ongoing choreography of parenting. We will also be joined by Parents in the Performing Arts (PiPA), who will share from their research, support and campaigning to empower parents and carers to stay creative, connected and in their careers while caring.

This event is for freelance artists and cultural workers balancing creative careers with parenting or caring responsibilities, and for those who work alongside them – programmers, producers, and arts organisations seeking to better support parent artists.
