As one of the features of the competition is to provide guidance during the final writing process, at this stage we’re just looking for an outline of the play and a sample scene to demonstrate your imagination and skill with dialogue and character. We are not looking for copies of finished plays at this point. Any submitted in the intial process will be disqualified.

Please Provide:

• A synopsis of the proposed play, which should be no longer than 4 pages of A4 (approx 2000 words).

• A short example (approx 15 – 20 pages or no more than) of original dramatic writing which demonstrates your skill in writing character, setting, mood and dialogue. It is preferred that this excerpt is related to your proposed play but due to the brevity of the application period we are willing to accept other examples of your dramatic writing.

• A covering letter.

• A CV of writing and theatrical experience to date

• An opportunities monitoring form
