23rd January 2019
A chance for aspiring playwrights to meet regularly in a small group to share and develop individual scripts.
Facilitated by award winning Playwright Lewis Hetherington this will be a space to take your writing further. That might mean completing your first full length play, or pushing yourself to interrogate and refine your existing stagecraft.
We will meet once a month and through a series of exercises, provocations and structured discussions we will create a supportive, playful, and curious environment in which to challenge yourself and your writing.
You’ll be invited to bring along an idea which is in its early stages and we will explore it from a different angle at each session; looking at character, dialogue, form and staging, amongst others.
We’ll draw on everything from classical plays to contemporary performance texts to find ways discuss and analyse your writing for the stage, and where it fits in the current creative landscape. There’ll be the opportunity for you to shape how the group is developed, as a small group we’ll respond to individuals’ ambitions and needs, and find ways to best give you the stimulation and structure you need.
By signing up you will commit to coming to all three sessions with the chance to sign up again each season. Regular attendance is essential in creating a trusting environment and a safe space to share work; you will also be given deadlines and task to be completed in your own time to help further your work.
Sessions this season will be Wednesday 23 January, Wednesday 20 February, Wednesday 27 March. To book please email firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight on Sunday 6 January. You will then be contacted for payment to confirm your place.
