11th October 2018
A practical workshop exploring how physicality and text can be combined using the text as a starting point. This is a session for actors, directors, dancers and circus performers who want to experiment with bringing heightened physicality to text whether that is circus skills, dance or gesture work.
We will look at Love and Information by Caryl Churchill and some Shakespeare to see how different styles of text can be informed and enhanced by strong physical choices. You will leave with a toolbox of techniques for staging, speaking and analysing text and ideas for how you can use physicality with text in the rehearsal room and performance.
Gemma’s directing credits include: The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and Before the Party (Pitlochry), Romeo & Juliet, King Lear (Orange Tree); Beryl (New Vic Theatre); Playground Victories (outdoor physical theatre/circus).
