RashDash Residency

with RashDash

17th February 2020

THREE DAY WORKSHOP 17 - 19 FEBRUARY

This residency will be based on RashDash’s approaches to making devised work. The workshop is for professionals with at least 2 years’ experience as a director, writer, performer, choreographer/movement director, theatre maker. In it you’ll explore ways of beginning a project, making physical/movement work, writing/devising text, using found/existing text and image and ways to assemble the pieces we make.

Be prepared to move, work in contact with other bodies (safely and within your boundaries), share ideas you’re at the beginning of making, work collaboratively with other theatre makers / performers, watch and listen as other people make and play.

The workshop will be led by Helen Goalen and Abbi Greenland, co-founders/directors of RashDash.

RashDash shows include Three Sisters (co-production with Royal Exchange Theatre, co-commissioned by The Yard, Tobacco Factory Theatres, The Old Vic, MAYK and Cambridge Junction, UK Theatre Award Winner for Best Touring Production), The Darkest Corners (a large scale, outdoor, headphone show for Transform Festival 2017), Two Man Show (made with Northern Stage and Soho Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe First Winner 2016, Stage Award for Acting Excellence, shortlisted for an Off West End Award), Snow White & Rose Red (a Christmas show for Cambridge Junction, 2015 and Battersea Arts Centre, 2017), We Want You To Watch (by RashDash and Alice Birch, National Theatre and UK Tour, 2015), Oh, I Can’t Be Bothered (shortlisted for an Off West End Award, Soho Theatre, 2014), The Ugly Sisters (shortlisted for the Total Theatre Award for Experimentation and Innovation, Edinburgh Festival, 2012), The Frenzy & Set Fire To Everything!!!  (outdoor shows commissioned by Lyric Hammersmith, GDIF, Imagine Watford and Latitude), Scary Gorgeous (Edinburgh Fringe First Award winner 2011), Another Someone (Edinburgh Fringe First award winner 2010), and The Honeymoon.
