10th September 2018

An informal lecture, chat and Q & A on all aspects of professional playwriting and dramaturgy. A session for writers and theatre makers who need a boost, a spark and the reassurance that they're on the right track. The session will also look as dramaturgy – what it is, how to get into it and the relationship between playwrights and dramaturgs. Participants will leave feeling equipped, informed and ready to work with an awareness of different avenues available to them.

Douglas Maxwell has been one of Scotland’s top playwrights since his debut in 2000. His recent work includes The Whip Hand at The Traverse Edinburgh, Charlie Sonata at The Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, Yer Granny (a version of Roberto Cossa’s La Nona) for the National Theatre of Scotland and Fever Dream: Southside for The Citizens, Glasgow. His plays are published by Oberon books. His first collection of work focuses on his writing for younger audiences and includes Decky Does a Bronco, Mancub, Too Fast, The Mother Ship and Helmet.
