COMMISSIONED is for Scottish artists and companies to create innovative work for audiences. COMMISSIONED supports new projects to be delivered and presented to audiences outside of our building in new and exciting ways.
Our mission for COMMISSIONED is to champion innovation and support work which we may not normally be able to due to our programming requirements.
We have COMMISSIONED three new projects which will be presented to audiences in the coming months.
2020 Visions by Nich Smith Lighting Design presented a series of spectacular scenes in windows around Trongate, all inspired from stories, photos, and ideas submitted by members of the public. Part promenade, part treasure hunt, part collective dream, 2020 Visions presented a brighter future in nine locations in Glasgow city centre from 12th – 20th December 2020.
Earwig, conceived by sound designer Danny Krass and directed by Finn den Hertog, is a series of six new podcasts by Scottish-based playwrights, commissioned to explore the possibilities of sonic theatre. The first episode, The Deadlift by Stef Smith, will premiere on the 27th January 2021, with weekly drops thereafter.
Devised by Produced Moon, Meghan Tyler and Nima Séne, HOTLINE will be a playful and fun, post-dramatic adaptation of the first phone call to the moon with a mission to bring peace and tranquillity to the earth. HOTLINE will run from the 26th February – 6th March 2021.
THINGS MY WHITE FRIENDS SAY
Black, Glaswegian writer Joe McCann has been commissioned to write Things My White Friends Say – an exploration of everyday racism in the light of George Floyd’s murder and the Black Lives Matter movement. The piece, which will be directed by Raman Mundair, is currently in development and slated for digital release later in 2021.
Commissioned is supported by funding from the Scottish Government’s Performing Arts Venue Relief Fund, administered by Creative Scotland.
