PLAY ME SOMETHING
This event was held in the past and is no longer available for booking.
presented by CATRIONA MacINNES
Inspired by Play Me Something (1989) – a film adaptation by Timothy Neat and John Berger from Berger’s short story of the same title.
A mysterious stranger walks up from an island shore to the local airport and begins to tell a story to some islanders waiting for a delayed plane to the mainland. It is the story of Bruno, a musician from the mountains, and the city dweller Marietta, who meet in Venice during a workers fiesta. The islanders, quietly conscious of their own necessary migration away from an old way of life, become entranced. Using photography, film and live performance, this work-in-progress visits the romantic and poignantly socio-political parable, along with Berger’s lyrical words.
