Children and Young People

We believe that our young theatre goers are entitled to the same quality experience, whether workshop or performance, as our current adult audience, as they are the theatre audience of the future. We provide this through a range of participatory workshops and projects and by regularly programming professional theatre work for this age group throughout the year.

We only programme professional children’s work from reputable companies and work in partnership with artists on our workshop programmes who inspire and who wish to be inspired by and along with the young people they work with.

Each workshop and project provides the opportunity to collaborate with a professional artist, to explore, discover and experiment in a safe and fun environment as well as meeting new people and having lots of fun.

Classes are divided into 6 age ranges in line with school year groups: pre 5’s, P1-P3, P4-P7, S1-S2, S4-S6 and 18-25’s.

Pre- 5’s

Every parent wants to give their little ones the best start possible and participating in cultural activity can do exactly that.  We start our Tron journey with baby steps – workshops that happen once a month and performances at key points of the year.  This allows you and your child the chance to get acquainted with the building at your own pace.

Tiny and Tall Tales gives your little ones the chance to explore, discover and experiment in a safe, creative and fun way.  Workshops help to develop essential and desirable life skills, encourage imaginations to flourish while complementing/preparing your child for the formal learning experiences nursery and school will provide.  Best of all you get to join in too.  All our pre 5 workshops are parent/child allowing you to share the experience and develop a positive and creative relationship.

Tron Young Company 18-25 yrs

The Tron Young Company meets once a week for a 2 hour workshop. They function as a company and members have input into all creative aspects , and thus have written their own mission statement:

The Tron Young Company is changing theatre. From our home in the vibrant and socially diverse Merchant City, in Glasgow, we are reaching out; raising our profile across Scotland and beyond. We, an ambitious collective, aim to engage with people in as many ways as we can; forging new links- and strengthening existing ones- with communities, with fellow artists and with audiences.

Central to our ethos is respect for individuality and respect for one another. The positive and supportive atmosphere of the Tron Theatre serves as an ideal backdrop, against which our confidence, creativity and freedom of expression are able to flourish. We promote growth and progress, both for the individual and collectively.

The company harbours a great appreciation of the theatrical and performative arts, and we actively seek to increase the breadth of material that we are exposed to- and respond to it through constructive and considerate analysis. We feel, therefore, that our work is well informed and we strive to touch upon all subjects and embrace a multitude of practices and techniques. We ignore nothing.

Tron Young Company utilises as many of the talents and skills, prevalent within our group, as we can. This multi-disciplinary approach affords us many opportunities and permits unique, often bold, more often fun, experimentation and leaps into the unknown!

Watch us jump- and see where you land...
